Our story

MontanaPep — known to many of our customers as Montana Peptides — has been in operation since 2024, supplying research-grade peptides from Great Falls. The company is independently owned and operated.

The family behind it has been in Montana a long while. On the maternal side of the owner’s father’s family — the Evers line, through Maybelle Evers — they came to Montana in the late 1800s. Between the Kurth and Evers families, that is well over 120 years of cattle ranching in this state, and cousins still run the family ranch off the Shonkin Bench today.

On his mother’s side the story is business rather than cattle. Our founder’s maternal grandfather, Robert Swanson, was a Great Falls businessman of considerable range. He founded the Bar‑S, a fine dining restaurant that became a fixture of the city, and alongside it he owned a marina and a car lot and worked as a realtor here before moving to Las Vegas, where he continued in real estate. The Bar‑S remains one of the most highly regarded restaurants in Great Falls and the surrounding area to this day, now under new ownership — a business he built that has outlasted his own tenure by decades.

That is the standard we measure ourselves against. A restaurant does not stay well regarded for that long on advertising. It stays that way because the people running it were consistent, treated customers properly, and delivered the same thing every time someone walked through the door. Between the ranching on one side of the family and his grandfather’s businesses on the other, our founder grew up around people who understood that a reputation in a town this size is earned slowly and lost quickly.

He was born and raised here and has been a local business owner in Great Falls for 21 years himself. In a city this size that matters in a practical way: customers are neighbors, word travels, and the only durable way to run a business is to be straight with people.

So that is how we work. Answer the phone, stand behind every order, and keep the research record accurate — including the parts that are inconvenient. When a compound’s published evidence is thin, our product page says so, and every regulatory status we report links to its source. We sell to the research community, and only for research; we would rather lose a sale than make an exception to that.

What we do differently

Most peptide sellers publish product descriptions written to sell. We took a different approach and built a referenced research library covering every compound in our catalog. Each product has two reference tabs: a Scientific Reference covering structure, mechanism, evidence base and analytical testing, and an Origins & History tab tracing who discovered the compound, when, and what happened to it since.

Everything traces to a primary source

Citations link to PubMed, ClinicalTrials.gov, FDA documents and journal publishers — not to other vendors. If you want to check a claim, the link is right there. We found and corrected several errors that circulate widely in the peptide market while building this, including a wrong PubMed ID for a foundational paper and a vendor description that had a molecule's chemistry backwards.

We report the complete record

Results are reported as published, positive and negative alike. Where a pivotal trial failed, the page says so; where a development program was halted, it says why; where a compound has no published human data, the page says that plainly. Each page also records the compound’s current regulatory status, linked to its source.

Testing guidance that actually applies

Several products commonly sold in peptide catalogs are not peptides — they are small molecules, nucleosides, lipids, tissue extracts or recombinant proteins. For those, an HPLC peptide-purity percentage is the wrong measurement. Each reference page states what analysis would genuinely establish identity for that specific material.

Research-use policy

Research use only — not for human or veterinary use

All MontanaPep products are sold exclusively as research materials for in‑vitro laboratory research. They are not sold as drugs, foods, cosmetics, dietary supplements or medical devices, and they are not for human or veterinary use, or for diagnostic or therapeutic use of any kind. No order is accepted without the purchaser’s signed certification that every product will be used solely for lawful laboratory research, and we refuse any order where there is reason to believe otherwise.

Age requirement

You must be 18 years of age or older to purchase from this site.

Purchaser certification

Every order requires the purchaser to identify their purchaser type and research application, and to certify by electronic signature that every product will be used solely for lawful in‑vitro laboratory research. Purchasers are responsible for laboratory handling, storage and disposal, and for compliance with all federal, state and local laws and any licensing or institutional requirements that apply to them.

Refusal of sale

We refuse or cancel any order where there is reason to believe a product is intended for anything other than laboratory research. Our staff provide no usage guidance of any kind and do not discuss any use of our products other than laboratory research.

Regulatory status

Each product reference page records the compound’s regulatory status as published by the FDA and other regulators, with a link to every source.

Questions

If anything on a product page is unclear, or you believe we have a detail wrong, call (406) 799-0812 or email customerservice@montanapep.com. We would rather correct an error than leave it up.
