Classification
Adamantane-modified synthetic peptide sold under the trade name Adamax — identity not consistently reported
Structure and chemistry
Adamax is described across the research-chemical trade as a synthetic peptide carrying an adamantane cage modification, which raises lipophilicity relative to the unmodified parent. Vendor descriptions of the underlying sequence conflict materially: some list it as an adamantane-modified Semax analogue, others as an adamantyl acetyl hexapeptide with a different CAS number, a different molecular formula and a melanocortin mechanism. These cannot both be correct. The certificate of analysis for the specific lot is the only reliable statement of what a given vial contains.
What the published research shows
There is no substantial peer-reviewed literature on Adamax under that name. It does not appear in clinical trial registries. Published work on adamantane-modified peptides generally concerns the chemistry of the modification — stability, membrane permeability, half-life — rather than this compound. Vendor copy describing cognitive or neuromodulatory effects is not supported by published trials.
Mechanism of action
Not established. The adamantyl group is a medicinal-chemistry tool for altering the physical behaviour of a molecule, not a mechanism in itself. Any receptor-level activity would depend entirely on which parent sequence a given lot actually carries.
Development history
No clinical development programme. This is a research-chemical market compound rather than an investigational drug.
Current regulatory status
Not approved by the FDA for any use. Supplied for laboratory research use only.
Analytical testing
Given the conflicting structural descriptions in circulation, confirm identity by mass spectrometry against the stated molecular weight before relying on any published account.
