Classification
Short synthetic peptide from the Russian bioregulator program
Structure and chemistry
Pinealon is a short synthetic peptide, commonly given as the tripeptide Glu-Asp-Arg, developed within the Khavinson bioregulator program and associated with brain and pineal-axis research. It is a distinct molecule from Epithalon, though the two come from the same program and are frequently discussed together.
What the published research shows
Pinealon has a considerably thinner research record than either Epithalon or Thymalin. It is one of the later synthetic short-peptide analogues in the program, and the published work is predominantly Russian, preclinical, and from the originating institute or its collaborators. No independent Western randomized controlled trial exists.
Mechanism of action
Reported within the bioregulator framework to act on neuronal and pineal-axis regulation, with published work describing effects on cell survival under oxidative and hypoxic stress in experimental models. These mechanisms are not independently established outside the originating research program.
Development history
Developed at the Saint Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology as one of the short synthetic peptide analogues in Vladimir Khavinson’s bioregulator series, alongside Epitalon, Vilon, Thymogen, Vesugen and others.
Current regulatory status
Pinealon is not approved by the FDA or any Western regulator for any indication, and it does not have the Russian pharmaceutical registration that Thymalin and Epithalamin hold. Of the compounds in this group, it has among the least independent supporting evidence.
Analytical testing
A short peptide of this length is straightforward to verify by mass spectrometry against a certified reference standard. Given the limited independent literature, confirming exact sequence identity matters more than usual, since there is little external data against which to sanity-check a product’s claimed properties.
